The other day at my first SHS track meet, i ran the 300m. hurdles. its different from the 200m hurdles in middle school because its a longer race, the hurdles are at im (intermediate) height, and theyre spread out a lot more. Anyway for my first meet i was in the jv heat. we hadnt even done the 300 before that day so i was just gonna wing it. unfortunately, it didnt work out like i thought it would. i didnt go as fast as usual and payed for it when i went over the last hurdle. my trailing leg caught on the hurdle and i tripped right at the end of the race. I scraped up my knees and hands a little but the real damage was in my arm. my mom, who is a nurse, was watching from the bleachers and asked if my arm hurt at all. I couldn't even bend it up, and she told me i broke my radial head. The radial head is part of the elbow and is really easy to break. Mine wasnt broken, but we didnt know that. We went to the er and the doctor there (who was a complete retard) said it was def. broken. He referred us to the orthopedic doctor and he said the exact opposite. Its just sprained and should heal in a week or two. If my arm was broken, id have to quit track, which wouldve sucked a lot. Luckily its fine and i was able to run hurdles again in the meet yesterday at south lyon. I ran varsity and didnt fall that time. Anyway the picture up at the top shows what the elbow looks like and the hyperlink explains the importance of the radial head and how easy it is to fracture. Oh AND JESSIE SOO DISTRACTED ME BY SAYING, "RUN FORREST RUN!!" WHILE I WAS GOING OVER THE HURDLES!!! apparently the next day everyone made fun of her for "breaking me". yeah i dont know...i wasnt here that day. ANYWAY, i think thats good enough for one blog.
